That’s why we were delighted to hear Brabantia, maker of the world’s swankiest bins, is contributing to managing plastic waste in the world’s waters.

As with every one of its new super sustainable newIcon pedal bins sold, Brabantia donates to The Ocean Cleanup.  The Ocean Cleanup develops advanced technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic. Invented by then 17-year-old Boyan Slat, the network of extremely long floating barriers lets the ocean concentrate the plastic using its own currents. The array could theoretically remove about half the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in 10 years. A prototype of the barrier is currently being tested in the North Sea.

The new Icon pedal bins are made of 40% high-grade recycled materials, and after use, 98% of the bin and packaging is recyclable too. Plus they come in 13 gorgeous pastel hues, including Daisy Yellow, Clay Pink and Moss Green.

What’s not to love about a bin that not only keeps our kitchen’s clean, but saves our fishies too?
